Millions of believers all over the world know the words of Psalm 34:7 (NIV)...
Hand carved wooden plaques with this verse are often offered to international tourists as souvenirs. Yet I've never heard anyone ask, "Who is this angel who protects us and whom we are to fear (stand in awe and respect of)." When asked, very few know who he is.
The Old Testament portion of the Bible speaks frequently about the angel of the Lord. Not an angel of the Lord, but the angel of the Lord. Who is he? And why do most Bible believing Christians know so little about him?
References to the angel of the Lord appear at least 70 times in the Old Testament. He is not specifically mentioned even once in the New Testament. What happened to this powerful angel?
This is not a mystery novel. I have no desire to keep you in suspense. The angel of the Lord is God the Son, the second person of the Holy Trinity, the one we also know as Jesus, the Savior of the world. If you have doubts about this, they will be gone soon after beginning Chapter 4.
